Boutonniere
61Boutonnieres for the Groom
What is a boutonniere?
A boutonniere is a flower worn on the left side of the suits lapel on formal occasions such as a wedding. It can be one or more flowers and some greenery. If worn for a wedding the groom´s boutonniere coordinates with the bride´s bouquet.
Who wears a boutonniere in the wedding?
A boutonniere is worn by the groom (the boutonniere is a little more elaborate to distinguish him), the groomsmen, and the father of the bride and the groom.
Where to buy a boutonniere?
The boutonnieres are ordered along with the bride´s bouquet so that they match it. If you are making the boutonnieres be sure to have all the material needed to make them.
Choosing a boutonniere:
A small boutonniere looks better than a very elaborate one, if the bride´s bouquet is made of different flowers, choose a lovely bud for the boutonniere, for example a lovely tulip. If the bride´s bouquet is made of only one kind of flowers, for example a hand tied purple calla lily bouquet, a matching calla lily boutonniere is appropriate.
